The New York Jets have released star wide receiver Davante Adams, ending his brief tenure with the team. Adams, 32, was acquired from the Las Vegas Raiders in October 2024 in exchange for a conditional third-round draft pick. Over 11 games with the Jets, he recorded 67 receptions for 854 yards and seven touchdowns.
The decision to part ways with Adams follows the Jets' earlier release of quarterback Aaron Rodgers. Attempts to trade Adams were unsuccessful due to his substantial contract, leading to his release, which frees up approximately $29.9 million in salary cap space, though it results in an $8.3 million dead cap hit.
Adams is now a free agent and reportedly prefers to play on the West Coast. Potential landing spots include the Seattle Seahawks, San Francisco 49ers, Los Angeles Chargers, and Los Angeles Rams.
